La valle d'Itria
Valle d'Itria is the Trulli Valley for excellence: a dreamy and fairy-tale view. Valle d'Itria extends between the towns of Martina Franca City of the Festival of the valle d'itria and Baroque, Alberobello the capital of the Trulli, Locorotondo with its charming old town, its charming skyline, the Locus Festival and the characteristic " Meat at the Fornello ", Cisternino famous for its historic center and the famous" Bombettes "and Ceglie Messapica famous international city for its enogastronomy. The Valley welcomes visitors with expanse of olive groves, orchards and vineyards that produce typical wines such as "Bianco Martina" and "Bianco Doc Locorotondo". The valley is a succession of unique color effects, a festivity of colors ranging from the greenery of oak forests to secular olive trees and vineyards, white trulli and farmhouses to the "red earth" of the countryside.
The landscape of the Itria Valley is particularly singular and recognizable and represents the result of a wise integration between the natural, natural and physical components.
The "Itria" landmark could derive from the oriental cult of Madonna Odegitria (meaning the way) imported by the Basilian monks who settled in 977 in the territory from the territories of the Eastern Roman Empire.
Finally, the Itria Valley is crossed by the Cyclades of the Aqueduct Puglia, a cycling route realized on the passages of the Main Canal of the Great Aqueduct, a mastodontic work done in the early 1900s.
